Carl Kempe

Johan Carl Kempe ( born December 8, 1884 in Stockholm, † July 8, 1967 ) was a Swedish tennis player and businessman.

Life

Johan Carl Kempe comes from a Swedish family business. After studying at the University of Uppsala, he started in 1906 in Mo och Domsjö AB to work in the paper industry, which was directed by his father Frans. In 1917 he took over the leadership of the company, which operates as Holmen AB after a merger of several companies and a name change today.

Kempe also took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 and played in all staged in the hall competitions. In the individual competition he was defeated in the second round the Frenchman André Gobert. In the mixed doubles, he and Margaret Cederschiöld lost the match for the bronze medal against Gunnar Setter Wall and Sigrid Fick. In the men's doubles he succeeded his only medal success; with Setter Wall he only lost in the final against the French André Gobert and Maurice Germot.
