Carl Morten Iversen

Carl Morten Iversen ( born May 1, 1948 in Oslo) is a Norwegian jazz bassist.

The son of jazz violinists Arild Iversen began his career as a professional musician with Lars Klevstrand (Molde Festival 1968) and played his first recordings with Lille Bjørn Nilsen one. He studied until 1972 in the U.S. and was thereafter to 1974 President of Norsk Jazzforbund.

He played since the early 1970s in various bands, including the quintet of Ditlef Eckhoff ( 1973-74 ) and Magni Wentzel ( 1974-76 and 1979-84 ), the quartet of Guttorm Guttormsen ( 1974-80 ), the septet and the Quintet by Per Husby, the Christian rhyme Kalle Neumann Quartet ( 1976-77 ), the quartets of Richard Badendyck ( 1978-79 ) and Morten Halle / Rune Klakegg ( 1979-80 ) and the Group One 2 ( 1981-82 ), Oslo 13 ( 1981-93, Spellemannprisen 1988) and AHA / Extended Nose / Extended Noise ( 1982-88 ).

1980-81 he led his own trio with Erik Balke and David Averre, since 1986 a trio with Rob Waring and Frank Jakobsen, with whom he recorded two albums. With the trio 87 ( with arms Donelian and Audun Kleive ) he had a commitment in 1989 in New York. In 1994 he undertook a tour with the Scandinavian group of jazz CHOIR. 1996 he recorded the album Going with the Flow with Olga Konkova and Audun Kleive. This was followed by, among others more albums with Jon Eberson.

In addition, Iversen was between 1979 and 1981 and between 1989 and 1993 head of Foreningen Norske Jazz Musikere. 1995-98 he served as editor of the magazine Jazznytt. In 1988 he was awarded the Buddy pinches.
