Carl Munters

Carl Georg Munters ( pronunciation: [ ˌ kɑ ː ː ɹl mɵn təʂ ], born March 22, 1897 in Dala -Järna, community Vansbrosimningen, † 1989) was a Swedish engineer.

His parents were the engineer Anders Johan Munters and Hilman Bernhardina Helling. In 1922 he graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm. He married in 1925 Anna Eugenia Geralf and 1951 Marianne Warkander.

In 1922, he developed as a student together with Baltzar von Platen and John Tandberg an absorption chiller with hydrogen as the auxiliary gas was heated in ammonia in a closed system to above the boiling point and then re-liquefied.

On March 8, 1923, patent was granted for it and the company AB Arctic began with the production of the refrigerator. 1925, the development was completed, Electrolux acquired the " von Platen - Munters ' patents and introduces the world's first absorber refrigerator for households. 1926 for a patent in the United States was granted.

In 1955 he founded together with Marcus Wallenberg and two other company Munters. Here he invented the sorption. In the early 1970s, he retired from the management and soon, Munters has been taken over by the Incentive Group.

At the time of his death he held over 1000 patents.
