Carl Roesner

Carl Roesner ( born June 19, 1804 in Vienna, † July 13, 1869 in Steyr) was an Austrian architect.

Life

Studied at the Carl Roesner in Vienna and Rome. Roesner was in 1826 corrector at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and from 1835 professor. He stood near the romantics - circle around Klemens Maria Hofbauer and devoted himself intensively to sacred art. As an architect and professor, he was essential to the architecture in the Romantic period with. Among his students at the Academy of Fine Arts included the architect Max Fleischer, Richard Jordan and Wilhelm Stiassny. Besides his work at the Academy Roesner was deputy editor of the "General Bauzeitung ". Built in the time of the monarchy, are its most important buildings today largely outside of Austria.

1894 Roesnergasse facility in Vienna was named after him, which is located directly in the created by him Meidlinger parish church.
