Carl von Liebermeister

Carl Lieber Meister ( born February 2, 1833 in Ronsdorf, † November 24, 1901 in Tübingen ) was a German internist.

Life

Dear Master studied in Bonn, Würzburg, Greifswald and Berlin, especially with Rudolf Virchow and Felix von Niemeyer. In 1856 he received his doctorate in Greifswald. From 1860 he worked in Tübingen, where he was an associate professor in 1864. From 1865 to 1871 he was professor of pathology and director of the medical clinic in Basel, after which he was a professor in Tübingen.

Dear Master, is known for his work on the pathophysiology of fever and the study of fever-reducing measures, including hydrotherapy. His name is connected with the relationship between the pulse rate and the temperature of the feverish body. The Liebermeister rule states that increase with temperature charts of adults, the heart beats at a rate of about eight beats per minute for each degree Celsius.

According to the draft of the sculptor Hermann Lang, a monument with a marble bust of the doctor in 1903 at the building of the University Clinic of Munich built.
