Carl Weathers

Carl Weathers ( born January 14, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana ) is an American actor and former professional football player. He gained particular fame through his portrayal of the boxer Apollo Creed in the first four episodes of the Rocky film series.

Life and work

Before he became an actor, he successfully played football for the Oakland Raiders and brought it to prominence. From 1971 to 1973 he played for the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League. In 1974 he ended his sports career and took over smaller film roles, such as in Friday Foster - In the Network of Black Spider from the year 1975.

His breakthrough came with the role of Apollo Creed in Rocky in 1976, which he included in Parts II to IV. Another highlight of his career was Predator, where he had to play on the side of Arnold Schwarzenegger to an alien hunter. But only in 1988 Weathers got his first starring role in the movie Action Jackson, but which could neither convince at the box office or with critics. Then flattened his career and he took mainly television roles.

From 1991 to 1993 he played the lead role in the television series The law of the road. In 2012, he stood in Thunder Levin 's science fiction film American Warships as general McKraken front of the camera.

Carl Weathers married 1973 Mary Ann Castle, however, is divorced from her. Together they have two children.
