Carl Wedl

Carl Wedl ( born October 14, 1815 in Vienna, † September 21, 1891 ibid; Karl Wedl ) was an Austrian pathologist.

After graduating and receiving his Ph.D. in 1841 in Vienna Wedl was first practically worked. Following a science purposes serving trip to France and England, he took 1844 in Vienna histological examinations and was qualified as a student of Carl von Rokitansky in 1849. As a first associate ( 1853 ) and later ordinary ( 1872 ) Professor of Histology at the University of Vienna, he was the first Professor of Histology in the German language area.

In 1910 in Vienna Landstrasse (3rd district) was named the Wedlgasse after him.
