Carl Zuckmayer Medal

The Carl Zuckmayer Medal is a literary prize, awarded since 1979 by the State of Rhineland -Palatinate in memory of Carl Zuckmayer " for services to the German language and to the artistic word".

Modalities

The winners are selected by a committee chaired by the Minister of Culture. The medal was created by the artist Palatine Otto Kallenbach. The Culture Award is presented together with a 30 -liter wine barrel from neck home, the birthplace Zuckmayers. Every year on 18 January, on the occasion of the death anniversary of Zuckmayer, the ceremony will take place. While earlier literature prize was awarded in the Mainz State Chancellery of the Prime Minister, pass some years the price in a ceremony at the State Theatre Mainz.
