Carla Fracci

Carla Fracci [ karla frattʃi ] ( born August 20, 1936 in Milan ) is an Italian prima ballerina.

Career

Carla Fracci studied from 1946 to 1954 at the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala. She was initially hired as a soloist at La Scala, in 1958 she danced as prima ballerina. So she joined in 1958 in the title role of the ballet " Romeo and Juliet" after a choreography by John Cranko. Fracci decreed by critics details of sophisticated technology with great charisma. Famous today Carla Fracci is for her performance in the classic romantic ballets such as " Giselle ," " Les Sylphides " and " Swan Lake". She danced with many famous partners, including Rudolf Nureyev, Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Carla Fracci was a guest at many international ballet companies, such as the London Festival Ballet (1959 and 1962 ), the Royal Ballet London ( 1963), the Stuttgart Ballet (1965) and the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm ( 1969). In 1967, she was the star guest at American Ballet Theatre.

Is known for her role as " Giselle " with Erik Bruhn as a partner in the film version of the ballet ( Germany 1969). She starred in several film and television productions in Italy. Following her playing career, she was from 1990 to 1991 director of the ballet Napoli, from 1995 to 1997 ballet boss in Verona.
