Carles Rexach

Carles Rexach Cerdà ( born January 13, 1947 in Barcelona, Catalonia ) is a former Spanish football player and coach. Rexach remained his entire career as a player of FC Barcelona faithful and worked well after his active career as a scout, assistant coach and head coach for this club.
Playing career
Carles Rexach began at the age of 12 years in the youth department of FC Barcelona, for which he should be a total of 22 years active. His professional debut in 1965 as he celebrated 18 -year-old against Racing Santander in the Copa del Generalissimo (now the Copa del Rey ) and scored the fourth goal in a 4-0 victory to his team.
The next two years he played in the reserve team before then in 1967 joined the squad for the first team. There, the fast winger became the absolute master player of the 70s and one of the best players in the Primera División. In the 1970/71 season Rexach was together with José Eulogio Garate scorer in the Spanish league with 17 goals in 29 games ( Trofeo Pichichi ).
After the commitment of the Dutch star player Johan Cruyff FC Barcelona won in 1974 for the first time in 14 years the championship. Cruyff and Rexach formed in consequence, a strong duo. So Rexach scored 1975 in the European Cup against Feyenoord Rotterdam all three goals, all of which were prepared by Cruyff. 1979 won Rexach with FC Barcelona the European Cup Winners' Cup and also met in the final against Fortuna Dusseldorf. In 1981 he ended his playing career in which he scored 81 goals for Barcelona in 328 games.
As a national player Rexach came to 15 countries (2 goals ) and participated in the World Cup 1978 in Argentina part.
Coaching career
In the season 1987/88 was Rexach Assistant coach Luis Aragones at FC Barcelona. When he was released Rexach served briefly as interim coach before Johan Cruyff was the 1988/89 season and head coach Rexach moved back into second place. Cruyff built the FC Barcelona in the sequel to the best team in Europe (Dream Team). As Cruyff in 1991 failed with a heart attack, Rexach took over the team again and was Spanish champion. In the 1996 season, Cruyff was released and Rexach jumped again as a transitional solution. Under the coach Bobby Robson Rexach worked as a scout for the club before joining the Yokohama F. Marinos supervised in the 1998/99 season in the Japanese J- League.
After the dismissal of Llorenç Serra Ferrer Rexach returned to his old love, FC Barcelona, back and assisted the team in the last seven games of the season 2000/ 01. He led the team to a spectacular 3-2 victory over FC Valencia still on the fourth place in the table and thus the qualification of the UEFA Champions League.
During this time discovered and committed Rexach the thirteen- year-old Lionel Messi, who was elected from 2009 to 2012 four consecutive FIFA World Player of the Year.
President Joan Gaspart transferred Rexach now the responsibility as a coach for the following season, but Rexach was left with the 4th place in the league and they retire in the semifinals of the Champions League against great rivals Real Madrid to meet expectations. Therefore, he was released at the end of the 2001/02 season and replaced by Louis van Gaal.
