Carlisle is an inhabited unincorporated community in Trinity County in the U.S. state of Texas with 68 inhabitants. The place was named after John Carlisle, who built mills in the area.

History

Carlisle is located 23 km south-west of Groveton in the southwest of the Trinity counties. The area was first settled during the time of the American Civil War. However, its growth did not begin until the late 19th century. After 1900 the railroad came to the area and Carlisle was a train station. 1906 a post office was opened, which was closed in 1955.

In the 1930s, the population reached 100 people. The state remained about the same until 1990. Carlisle was an agricultural scattered settlement at the time. By the year 2000, the population dropped to 68
