Carlo Agostini

Carlo Agostini ( born April 22, 1888 in San Martino di Lupari, Padova, Italy, † December 28, 1952 in Venice) was Archbishop and Patriarch of Venice, Cardinal -designate.

Life

Carlo Agostini studied in Treviso and Rome, the subjects of philosophy and Catholic theology. On September 24, 1910, he received the sacrament of Holy Orders and was given for further studies an exemption. From 1913 to 1932 he taught at the seminary in Treviso, where he presided as rain from 1925.

On January 20, 1932, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Bishop of Padua. He received his episcopal consecration on April 10, 1932 Andrea Giacinto Longhin.

1936 Agostini was Apostolic Administrator of Treviso. Pope Pius XII. appointed him on February 5, 1949, the Patriarch of Venice, and announced his elevation to cardinal on 29 November 1952. Carlo Agostini died on December 28, 1952, two weeks before the solemn consistory. He was buried in the crypt of St. Mark's Basilica.
