Carlo Bo

Carlo Bo ( born January 25, 1911 in Sestri Levante, † July 21, 2001 in Genoa ) was an Italian professor of French literature and an important Italian literary critic.

He was since 1947 for over 50 years Rector of the University of Urbino, which bears his name since 2003. In 1968 he founded in Milan along with Silvio Federico Baridon the Istituto Universitario di lingue modernity, since 1998 Libera Università di lingue e Comunicazione, IULM. In 1984 he was appointed together with Norberto Bobbio senator for life by President Sandro Pertini.
