Carlo Bomans

Carlo Bomans ( born June 10, 1963 in Bree ) is a former Belgian racing cyclist and current coach.

As a junior rider was Carlo Bomans 1981 Belgian road champion in 1983 Belgian military masters. In 1984, he won Paris -Troyes, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 1985 Troyes -Dijon and 1989 the Druivenkoers. In 1984 he took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles on road race, but had to drop out. In 1986, he became a professional.

Bomans 1989 in Waregem Belgian road champion, before Eddy Planckaert and Alfons De Wolf was. In 1994 he won cross through Flanders and the 1996 E3 Prize Flanders. Seven times he started between 1985 and 1995 in the Tour de France without much success: four times he gave up his best finish was 76th place in 1994.

Carlo Bomans suffered throughout his cycling career with major health problems. He had to be operated on for fractures and knee problems several times. From 1998 he was a Belgian national coach of the junior, since 2006, he trained the elite. He is the father of cyclist Glenn Bomans.
