Carlo Collodi

Carlo Collodi Carlo Lorenzini actually (* November 24, 1826 in Florence, † October 26, 1890 ) was an Italian writer and journalist. He is the author of the widely acclaimed novel The Adventures of Pinocchio.

His surname, pseudonym derives from the village of Collodi. There, between Lucca and Pistoia, his mother, Angela Orzali was born. Also Collodi himself spent much of his childhood there. In addition to his work as a writer, he worked as a journalist and prefect uranium Exposed. He was involved in the independence movement in Italy, and remained unmarried.

The great success of his novel The Adventures of Pinocchio appeared only after his death. The first story of Pinocchio was released on July 7, 1881 in the new children's magazine Giornale per i bambini in Rome. Only in the 20th century, the literary value of the work has been fully recognized by the professional community. Had a decisive influence his work because of its wide distribution on the development of the Italian language.

He is buried in his hometown in the cemetery Cimitero delle Porte Sante.
