Carlo Cremonesi

Cardinal Carlo Cremonesi (* November 4, 1866 in Rome, † November 25, 1943 in Vatican City ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Carlo Cremonesi received his theological and philosophical education at the Pontifical Roman Seminary in Rome. He received in 1890 the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a lecturer in the formation of priests. From 1909 to 1921 he served as secretary of the Pontifical Commission for the religious work, in 1914 he belonged to the staff of the Apostolic chamberlain.

Pope Benedict XV. appointed him on 29 December 1921 Papal Almoner and Titular Archbishop of Nicomedia and donated him on January 8, 1922 in the Sistine chapel consecrated bishop. Co-consecrators were Archbishop Giovanni Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano and Bishop Agostino Zampini.

Pope Pius XI. certain Carlo Cremonesi prelate of the newly established Territorialprälatur Beatissima Virgin Mary Most Holy Rosario, which he ran in addition to his duties at the Curia in 1926 in addition to 1928. On 16 December 1935, he took it as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Lorenzo in Lucina in the College of Cardinals at the same time accepted his resignation from the office of the Pontifical Almoseniers. Carlo Cremonesi participated in the conclave of 1939.

He died on 25 November 1943 of a heart attack at the Vatican and was buried in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina.
