Carlo Grano

Cardinal Carlo Grano ( born October 14, 1887 in Rome, Italy, † April 2, 1976 ) was a Vatican diplomat and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Carlo Grano studied in Rome, the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology and received on June 14, 1912, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then worked until 1920 as a parish priest in the diocese of Rome. From 1920 to 1923 he was Associate Pontifical Zeremoniar. He then entered the service of the Vatican Secretariat of State. From 1945 to 1953 he was Chief of Protocol Pontifical, from 1953 to 1958, he worked in various capacities for the accounting department of the Vatican.

Donated in 1958 Pope John XXIII. him a bishop and appointed him Titular Archbishop of Thessalonica and Apostolic Nuncio to Italy. Pope Paul VI. took him in 1967 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Marcello in the College of Cardinals to. Carlo Grano died on April 2, 1976 in Rome and was buried in his titular church.
