Carlo Perosi

Carlo Cardinal Perosi ( born December 18, 1868 in Tortona, Alessandria, Italy Province; † February 22, 1930 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Carlo Perosi studied in Tortona and Rome, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. He received on 8 November 1891, the sacrament of Holy Orders and, after further study in 1894 community chaplain and chancellor of the seminary in Tortona. In 1907 he received the papal mandate for the visitation of the seminaries of Sicily and the appointment of the Pontifical House prelates. From 1908 he worked for the Consistorial the Curia. In 1917, he became the canon of the Papal Basilica of San Pietro in Vaticano. Pope Pius XI. Carlo took Perosi 1926 as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Sant ' Eustachio in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him Pro- Secretary of the Consistorial. In 1928, Cardinal Secretary of Perosi Consistorial. He died on 22 February 1930 in Rome and was buried in the local cemetery " Campo Verano ". Cardinal Perosi was related to the famous composer Lorenzo Perosi (1872-1956), who led, among others, the choir of the Sistine Chapel.
