Carlos Arroyo
Carlos Alberto Arroyo Bermúdez ( born July 30, 1979 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico ) is a national basketball player from Puerto Rico. He is currently in Türkiye Ligi Basketbol in the service of Galatasaray Medical Park.
Sporting career
Arroyo began his career at the Cariduros from his hometown, where he played from 1996 in the " summer league " Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN ). In the fall of 1997 he moved to study at the Florida International University in Miami. There he played for the high school team Golden Panthers, among others, along with the future NBA professional Raja Bell in the Sun Belt Conference of the NCAA Division I. However, during this four-year period at the College this team did not succeed in qualifying for the national NCAA finals. During this time he continued to be active in the domestic BSN; with the Cangrejeros from Santurce, he won between 1998 and 2003 to 2002 on five of six championships.
Although Arroyo had not been selected in the Entry Draft of the NBA after graduation in 2001, he could / fall eventually in the summer of 2001, earn a place in the squad of the Toronto Raptors. There, however, he saw only low usage times and was released in January 2002, followed by Arroyo subsequently completed four games for the Basque club Taugrés from Vitoria -Gasteiz in the Spanish ACB League. For the following season NBA 2002/ 03 Arroyo then got a longer-term contract with the Utah Jazz. In the first season, still a reserve player, Arroyo was then in the NBA 2003/ 04 " starter " in all 71 league games in which Arroyo attended, and quadrupled its use -time minutes on a nearly 30 minutes per game.
