Carlos de los Cobos

Carlos de los Cobos Martínez ( born December 10, 1958 in Matamoros ) is a Mexican football coach and former player.

Playing career

Carlos de los Cobos was active as a player only in his native Mexico and played from 1977 to 1994 at various bigger clubs, mainly at Club América and the Querétaro Fútbol Club. With the Club América, he won in 1984, 1988 and 1989, the Mexican championship. He also won with CF Monterrey in 1991, national cup and two years later the CONCACAF Cup Winners' Cup.

National

For the Mexican national football team played de los Cobos 1983-1986. Amongst others he belonged to the squad in the Football World Cup 1986 in their own country. In this World Cup, he came in 3 of 5 games used.

Coaching career

His coaching career began Carlos de los Cobos where he left off as a player, the Querétaro Fútbol Club. He also coached the national teams of UANL Tigres and the clubs Club América, Celaya Fútbol Club and CD Irapuato. 2006, the Mexicans went the first time to train abroad to the CD FAS. A short time later, he was head coach of the national team of El Salvador, who won at this time for almost two years no longer a game. Under de los Cobos ' direction the team was able to win the highest association history with a 12-0 against the National Soccer Team of Anguilla on 6 February 2008. During the qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2010, he reached with his team now the final round. There, El Salvafor retired after a 5th place and could not qualify for the 2010 World Cup. On 8 January 2010, Carlos de los Cobos new coach of Major League Soccer franchise Chicago Fire SC. On 30 May 2011 he was dismissed from the MLS franchise and replaced by Frank Klopas. In 2012, he coached briefly the Querétaro Fútbol Club in his native Mexico.
