Carlos Huertas

Carlos Huertas (born 22 June 1991 Bogotá ) is a Colombian race car driver. He started from 2009 to 2011 in the British Formula 3 in 2012 and 2013 he competed in the Formula Renault 3.5.

Career

Huertas began his motorsport career in karting in 2001, in which was active until 2006. In 2007 he moved to Europe to Formula racing and entered for Raikkonen Robertson Racing in the British Formula BMW. At the end of his debut season, he finished 13th overall. 2008 Huertas stayed with Raikkonen Robertson Racing and entered into the European Formula BMW, which had emerged from the merger of the British to the German Formula BMW at. With a second place as best result, he finished the season in ninth place overall. He also started on a race weekend of the Australian Formula 3

2009 saw Huertas in the British Formula 3 Championship and entered again for Raikkonen Robertson Racing. His best result he scored in the first race in Portimao, in which he finished in fourth place, as two guest drivers in front of him, was seen on the second place. At the end of the season he had scored as many points as his teammate Daisuke Nakajima, however, since Nakajima could produce better rankings, he finished behind him in eighth place overall. 2010 remained at Huertas Raikkonen Robertson Racing and denied his second season in the British Formula 3 Championship. With three second places as the best results, he finished in tenth place in the overall standings. 2011 moved to Huertas Carlin and completed his third season in the British Formula 3 Championship. After he had achieved with seven podium finishes, he won the season finale his first British Formula 3 race. Huertas finished the season behind his team-mate Felipe Nasr and Kevin Magnussen from third place in the championship. In addition, Huertas took part in the FIA Formula 3 Trophy 2011. This he finished in eighth place.

2012 Huertas went for Fortec Motorsport in the Formula Renault 3.5 at the start. While his team-mate Robin Frijns won the championship title, Huertas was charged with a fourth place as best result 16th in the driver standings. 2013 returned back to Huertas Carlin, for which he received his second season in Formula Renault 3.5. He won a race in Alcaniz and reached the 14th place in the overall standings. With 30 to 24 points, he sat down internally against Jazeman Jaafar.
