Carlos Mendes
Carlos Mendes ( born December 25, 1980 in Mineola, New York) is an American football player.
The defender, he plays for the New York Cosmos in the second highest North American league, the North American Soccer League.
He has also to the Portuguese passport.
Career
College
Mendes began his active career as a football player in 1998 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. For the football team at the university he graduated from 1998 until his departure in 2001 a total of 72 games and came up with a balance of eleven goals scored and 25 assists.
Long Iceland Roughriders
In 2002, Mendes entered the professional football and graduated first inserts for the Long Iceland Rough Riders, the D3 Pro League were active in the third-tier USL at this time. After ten inserts in the regular season he was with the team first in the Atlantic Conference and won in the end even in the playoffs.
Rochester Raging Rhinos
In 2003 he moved into the second- highest league, the USL A-League to the resident Rochester Raging Rhinos. For the Rhinos he came in the seasons 2003 and 2004 to a total of 33 championship inserts, as well as to a hit.
MetroStars / New York Red Bulls
Shortly before the 2005 season, Mendes signed a contract with the MetroStars in the highest North American Soccer League, Major League Soccer. This season Mendes was used most of the time as a defensive midfielder.
On March 26, 2011, he graduated from the sixth player 10,000 minutes minutes of the game for New York.
On 30 November 2011, the Red Bulls moved not to extend Mendes option for another year. He then participated in the MLS Re - Entry Draft 2011 part. In the first round of this draft, he moved on December 5, 2011 Columbus Crew.

Trivia
In 2005, Mendes was the first graduate of Old Dominion University, who managed to be taken at a MLS side under contract.
