Carlos Menditeguy

Carlos Alberto Menditéguy ( born August 10, 1915 in Buenos Aires, † April 28, 1973 ibid ) was an Argentine polo player and race car driver.

Menditéguy belonged to the great reservoir of sporting all-rounders beginning of the 1950s, who moved in the wake of Juan Manuel Fangio and José González Froilán to Europe to seek their limits. Carlos was already considered one of the six best polo riders in the world, as he tried at the wheel of a race car. In the Formula 1 season 1953, he launched the first time on a Gordini in his hometown, but without success countable.

His style was characterized by fearlessness rather than through a clean driving style. His mechanics were often called, because he, too hard approach took the engine and chassis of his Maserati, which he drove preferably.

At his home Grand Prix in Argentina, he started regularly, but never played a full Formula 1 season and in 1954 was completely.

The following year he tried again. In the heat race in his hometown, he landed despite failure in seventh place, but at that time there were only up to the fifth world championship points. This he picked up at its launch at Monza, where he finished fifth place.

During the 1957 Formula 1 season, he scored a third place in his birthplace, his best finish. This was his best year. Although he is now with higher demands also launched in Monaco, France and Great Britain, he could not repeat the Erfolsgerlebnis. In final standings he finished in 14th place.

His last of a total of only ten races in Formula 1, he played in 1960 with at least 45 years of course in Buenos Aires - but this time on a Cooper - Climax to make a conciliatory fourth run a motorsport career opportunity starts. In comparison with other local heroes, his balance was of quality.

Menditeguy found his final resting place in the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.
