Carlos Nejar

Carlos Nejar, actually Luís Carlos Verzoni Nejar, ( born January 11, 1939 in Porto Alegre) is a Brazilian poet and translator.

Nejar studied literature and law and worked for many years as a prosecutor.

Nejar is since 1988 member of the " Academia Brasileira de Letras ".

Reception

For his translations, including Jorge Luis Borges and Pablo Neruda, he received numerous awards. Nejar is one of the most important writers of his generation. He wrote poetry, prose, essays, children's books and book reviews. His first book appeared Sélesis 1960. The poems " From the cruelty of things" came in 2002 as a Portuguese / German edition published by the young and young, Salzburg, in the transmission of Kurt Scharf out.
