Carlow, Germany

Carlow is a municipality in the district of North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Rehna based in the same city.

Geography

The community Carlow is located on a loop of the river between the towns of Maurine Ratzeburg, Gadebusch, Schoenberg and Rehna. The Hanseatic City of Lübeck is about 18 km away. The area east and west of Maurine is slightly hilly (elevations below 59 m above sea level. NN ).

Near the village of Klock village is situated approximately 177 acre Röggeliner lake whose northern tip is used as a swimming lake. The majority of the lake is like the adjacent Kuhlrader Moor because of the numerous waterfowl species under protection.

History

Carlow is first mentioned in the dated to the year 1158 doping charter of Henry the Lion for the diocese of Ratzeburg as Karlowe documented.
