Carlsbad is a small town in the southeast of the U.S. state of New Mexico in Eddy County. Carlsbad is located on the Pecos River, about 28 kilometers northeast of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

History

The present city of Carlsbad was founded on September 15, 1888. At that time the settlement was given the name " Eddy". Only after the discovery and the subsequent commercial exploitation of local mineral springs, the community was renamed in Carlsbad, which (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) at the famous European spa town of Carlsbad recalls.
