Carnival Parade of Maaseik

The Maaseik Mid-Lent parade ( Dutch: International Halfvastenstoet Maaseik ) is the oldest carnival parade of Belgium. The move place every year in Maaseik mid-Lent and has been since 1865.

The parade began in 1865 as Cavalcade, it is believed that there were earlier removals, but you have no proof. There are many participants and almost every year 77 groups from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. The procession goes through the streets of the historic old town and is 2.5 km long.
