Carol Douglas

Carol Douglas ( born April 7, 1948 as Carol Strickland in Brooklyn, New York) is an American soul and disco singer. She was known primarily for the disco classic Doctor's Orders.

Career

Carol Douglas succeeded with Doctor's Orders in 1975 at first breakthrough in the music business. The song was recorded only a few months earlier by the singer Sunny in the original. This version reached number 7 in the UK. Douglas reached # 11 in the U.S., but also the first rank of disco and 9 in the R & B charts. The recording is counted among the earliest disco songs ever, and sold over one million copies.

In the pop charts Douglas remained a one- hit wonder, in the disco hit lists recorded the singer further success. There you go, among others, Headline News, A Hurricane Is Coming Tonite (1975 ), Midnight Love Affair (1976, also 1st place), I Wanna Stay With You (1977) and Burnin ' (1978 ) more hits. Also popular were their cover of ABBA's Dancing Queen (1977) and Bee Gees ' Night Fever ( 1978). The declining interest in disco music in the early 1980s was also Douglas ' fame as a singer slowly dwindling.

Like countless recordings of other disco artists of the 1970s were also Douglas ' sampled repeatedly. So took over, among others, the rapper Nas parts of the song We Do It ( 1977) for Remember the Times ( 2004).
