Carol Heiss
Carol Elizabeth Heiss, married. Jenkins (born 20 January 1940 in New York City ) is a former American figure skater who started in a single run. She is the Olympic champion of 1960 and the world champion in 1956 until 1960.
Carol Heiss grew up in Queens, New York City and began at the age of six years with the figure skating. Her coach was the French pair of running Olympic champion in 1928 and 1932, Pierre Brunet. In 1951, she was the age of eleven national champion in the novice, 1952 at the Junior and 1953 to 1956 she was runner-up in the senior Tenley Albright behind.
1953 Hot contested at the age of 13 years for their first World Cup and was promptly fourth. Already in its second World Cup in 1955, she was Vice World Champion, but significantly behind Tenley Albright. Heiss was known as a very athletic figure skater. In 1953, she managed the first woman to be a double Axel. Another hallmark of her were series of simple Axel jumps that she jumped clockwise and counterclockwise alternately. After finishing her amateur career in 1960 Heiss played the lead role in the comedy Snow White and the Three Stooges. From a portion of their salary they paid the tuition fees of their siblings. Hot married figure skater Hayes Alan Jenkins 1961, who had become 1956 Olympic gold medalist and world champion from 1953 to 1956. With him she has three children.
