Carole Fredericks

Carole Fredericks ( born June 5, 1952 in Springfield, Massachusetts, † June 7, 2001 in Dakar, Senegal) was an American singer who gained prominence, especially in France. She was the younger sister of blues musician Taj Mahal.

Biography

At the age of 20 years, Carole Fredericks moved to California, where she began her career as a singer. In 1979 she moved to France, where she was involved in the aftermath of many renowned singers and musicians as a choir singer. They included Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, Mylène Farmer, François Feldman, France Gall, Jean -Jacques Goldman, Johnny Hallyday, Thierry Hazard, Elton John, Julie Pietri, Michel Sardou and Hubert -Félix Thiéfaine. Even in the 1980s and 1990s remained Fredericks together with her girlfriends Anne Calvert, Yvonne Jones, Joniece Jamison, Debbie Davis and Beckie Bell in demand as a singer.

In 1990 she co-founded with Jean -Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones, the trio Fredericks Goldman Jones.

Fredericks died on 7 June 2001 after a heart attack, she experienced when she stepped in Dakar from the stage at the end of a concert. It rests in the Cimetière de Montmartre in Paris.
