Caroline Jönsson

Caroline Jönsson ( born November 22, 1977 in Lund ) is a Swedish goalkeeper. She currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars in the U.S. women 's professional league Women's Professional Soccer (WPS ) and is a regular goalkeeper derschwedischen national team.

Career

Caroline Jönsson grew up as the daughter of a farmer and a riding instructor in the southern Swedish Sövestad where she started six years playing football. About the Association Veberöds IF she moved in 1996 to Malmö FF. In the very first season, she won with her club, the first of seven runner-up. In 1997 she won the Swedish Cup with Malmö. With the national team in 2001, she was Vice- European Champion and Vice World Champion two years later. Both times the team was defeated by Germany Golden Goal. After the 2004 Olympics, she lost her regular place in the national team temporarily to Hedvig Lindahl. In the fall of 2005, Jönsson won again the space between the posts. Overall Jönsson denied until today 79 internationals.

In 2009 she moved from LDB FC Malmö in the United States to the Chicago Red Stars for which she completed to date 20 games.
