Carolles

Carolles is a commune of the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. Administratively, it is assigned to the Canton Sartilly and the arrondissement Avranches.

Geography

The village with 794 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) located on the southwest coast of the Cotentin peninsula on the northern edge of the Bay of Mont -Saint -Michel approximately 100 kilometers south-west of Caen. The municipality is bordered by the English Channel and the two municipalities Jullouville (northeast) and Champeaux (southeast). Originally a typical Norman peasant village, it turns the bath today economically tourism.

The municipality is crossed by the river Lude, which south of the hamlet of Saint -Michel -des- Loups Springs in the municipality of Jullouville and already poured into the English Channel after a run of nearly six kilometers in Carolles. History

Carolles, Saint-Pair -sur -Mer and Saint- Michel -des- Loups were merged in 1973 with the municipality of Bouillon, who took the name Jullouville it. Saint-Pair -sur -Mer already split again in 1978 and is now once again an independent municipality. Carolles did it in 2000 the same. Saint -Michel -des- Loups is still part of Jullouville.
