Carquebut

Carquebut is a commune of 310 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) iim department Manche in the region of Basse -Normandie. The village is situated on the Cotentin peninsula and lives mainly from agriculture.

History

The name Carquebut ( Querquebu 1165/1173, Kirkebi 1204 Kerkebu 1228 ) comes from Scandinavia. The name is derived from the words Kirkja for Church and bú for home, farm or village.
