Carquefou
Carquefou ( Breton: Kerc'hfaou ) is a French town with 18 022 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Loire -Atlantique in the Pays de la Loire. Carquefou belongs to the district of Nantes and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the Canton Carquefou.
Geography
Carquefou is located northeast of the provincial capital of Nantes on Erdre. Surrounded the town of La Chapelle- sur -Erdre the northwest, Sucé -sur -Erdre in the north, Saint-Mars -du -Désert in the northeast, Mauve -sur -Loire to the east, Thouaré -sur -Loire is in the southeast, Sainte- Luce -sur -Loire in the south. In the west and southwest lies Nantes. The area of the municipality is dominated by the change in soil reliefs during the Würm glaciation.
Traffic
Passing through the municipality Autoroute A11 which crosses here with the Autoroute A811 and the A821 Autoroute.
History
In 1123 the church is mentioned as Carcafagus and after construction of the château in 1272 as Querquefou 1272.
