Carrollton is a city in Dallas County, Denton County and Collin County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located on Interstate 35 in the central northeast Texas, about 25 km north- west of Dallas and has a total area of 94.9 km ², of which 0.5 km ² water surface.

History

The first settlers arrived in 1840 from Carrollton, Illinois in this area. The then small settlement was probably named after this origin so. On 16 May 1878 with the opening of the first post office, the settlement was officially named so.

Demographics

According to the census of 2000, there were 109 576 people in 39 136 households and 28 921 families. The population density was 1,160.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 71.88 % White, 6.26 % African American, 0.46 % Native American, 10.90 % Asian, 0.07 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 7.71 % from other ethnic groups.
