Carson Palmer (born 27 December 1979 Fresno, California) is an American professional American football player at the position of quarterback. He plays for the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League ( NFL). Palmer attended the University of Southern California (USC ), where in 2002 he won the Heisman Trophy.

College career

After graduating from Santa Margarita Catholic High School Palmer wrote in 1998 at the University of Southern California one. He was the second quarterback on the football team of the College behind Mike Van Raaphorst, who was replaced after nine games of the USC Trojans because of its ineffectiveness by Carson Palmer. His breakthrough had Palmer in his last year of college under the new offensive coordinator Norm Chow. He threw 309 passes for 3,942 yards and 33 touchdowns with only ten interceptions and led the Trojans to a 38-17 victory over the University of Iowa in the Orange Bowl. In a game against Notre Dame, he threw 425 yards, the most ever scored by a quarterback against Notre Dame. Because of these extraordinary achievements got Carson Palmer, the Heisman Trophy awarded an award for the best player in college football.

Professional career

Rookie season

Carson Palmer was selected in the 2003 NFL Draft in the first place by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was so after Vinny Testaverde, the second player who was both selected with the first pick, and the Heisman Trophy won. In his first season he played a single game since Jon Kitna, who had arrived in 2001 as a free agent with the Bengals, every game started. Although the team finished the season with a record of eight wins and eight defeats, so with their first non-negative balance since 1996, was for the next season Palmer and Kitna does not explain to the starter.

2003-2004

In the first season -starting quarterback Palmer threw passes over 2,897 yards and 13 touchdowns. One of his notable performances was in December in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. After Baltimore went into the fourth quarter with a 20-3 lead, he took his team with three touchdowns to 23-24 back into the game. When the Ravens once again took the lead after a field goal, Palmer brought the Bengals 60 yards in eight plays in position for the Fell Goal to victory by Shayne Graham.

2005 - the breakthrough

In the 2005 season, Palmer reached with the Bengals a record of 11-5 and thus the first title in the AFC North since 1990. He became the first Bengal with a quarterback rating over 100, was with 3,836 yards fourth best pass thrower in the NFL and led the league with 32 touchdown passes. On 21 December 2005 Carson Palmer was elected to the Pro Bowl. In this game, he could not attend because he was injured in the wild card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Kimo Oelhoffen of the knee. Without Palmer, the Bengals then retired from the playoffs. In Palmer a complicated knee injury was found which has covered both the cruciate ligament and cartilage. He was operated on by Dr. Lonnie Paulos in Houston, Texas and was able to play in the next season.

Although the Bengals were unable to continue their success in subsequent seasons, Carson Palmer was elected in 2006 to the MVP of the Pro Bowl.
