Carsten Bunk

Carsten Bunk ( * February 29, 1960 in Berlin ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. In 1980 he succeeded in the quadruple sculls Olympic victory.

From 1975 to 1977 won Carsten Bunk from SC Berlin- Grunau in Spartakiade in One. After the silver medal at the Junior World Championships 1977 Bunk erruderte a year later the title. 1980 Bunk won the East German championship in the one before Frank Dundr. At the Olympic Games in 1980 the GDR sculls launched in the occupation of Frank Dundr, Carsten Bunk, Uwe Heppner and Martin Winter and won gold with a half seconds ahead of the Soviet boat. He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for this success. 1981 Bunk occupied again the third place in the East German Championship One.

Carsten Bunk had started to study medicine, but he broke off. Later he opened a boarding house in Rathen in Saxon Switzerland.
