Carsten Diercks

Carsten Diercks ( born August 8, 1921 in Kloster Preetz in Kiel, † 2 November 2009) was a German documentary filmmaker.

Life and work

Diercks started his career after the end of World War II as a photojournalist and co-workers at the radio in the North West German Radio. In 1952, he was a cameraman at NWDR. In 1953 he was involved in the first worldwide application of the pilot tone. He started against the view of the management of the broadcaster to make documentaries and should ultimately contribute to nearly 500 documentaries as a cameraman, director or editor first. Diercks here was instrumental in the formation of the Hamburg style in the creation of TV documentaries.

Carsten Diercks was also involved on behalf of the Indian Federal Minister for Information Indira Gandhi from 1959 in the construction of television in India as a consultant.

Carsten Diercks was awarded, among others, in 1985 with the Great Federal Cross of Merit.
