Carter Jefferson

Jefferson began as a clarinetist and worked in the backing bands of the Temptations, the Supremes, and Little Richard. In 1971 he went to study in New York City, where he worked for two years with Mongo Santamaria and 1973 member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers was. From 1977 to 1980 he worked with Woody Shaw; Early 1980s in the formation of the Unity trumpeter Barbara Donald. He worked on several of their albums. In 1978, The Rise Of Atlantis with Jefferson as a bandleader, in which, inter alia, the pianist Harry Whitaker participated. In addition, Jefferson worked with musicians such as Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Cedar Walton, Jerry Gonzalez & The Fort Apache band, Malachi Thompson, Shunzo Ohno and Jack Walraths Masters of Suspense.
