Safflower ( Carthamus tinctorius )

The safflower ( Carthamus, Syn: .. Kentrophyllum Neck ex DC ) are a genus of flowering plants from the sunflower family ( Asteraceae). Its natural distribution extends from the Mediterranean area to the Near East.

Description

The safflower are upright, thistle-like, annual or perennial herbaceous plants that reach heights of growth from 30 to 180 centimeters. Your thorny, elongated leaves can be glabrous or hairy.

The bloom conditions contain 15 to 60 yellow, red to purple tubular flowers. They form achenes than fruit.
