Cartier is an exclusive French jewelery and watch company of the Swiss luxury goods group Richemont.
History
It was founded in 1847 by Louis -François Cartier jewelry as a studio in Paris. The company Cartier resided first on the - belonging to the Grands Boulevards - Boulevard des Italiens. His son Louis -François -Alfred Cartier appeared in 1874 in the company and began to build the watch division of the company. First watch for the wrist he introduced in 1888, which, however, initially sold only hesitantly up to the turn of the century.
