Cârțișoara

Cârţişoara is a place in Sibiu county in Transylvania, Romania, and has about 1200 inhabitants.

Location

Cârţişoara located near the Fagaras Mountains, at the so-called Transfogarascher high street. You can reach the place on the European Route 68, a junction between Sibiu Fagaras ( Fagaras ) leads to four kilometers to the site. The nearest large town of Victoria ( Victoria City) is located 20 kilometers east; the county capital Sibiu ( Hermannstadt) 52 km west of Cârţişoara away. The Natural Park of Fagaras, the nature reserve Bâlea and the nature reserve Arpasel are located in the immediate vicinity.

History

Cârţişoara was created in 1964 by merging the villages Oprea Cârţişoara (German Kleinkerz ) and Streza Cârţişoara (German Oberkerz ). Both places were in the more distant past in the possession of Kerzer Cistercian monastery. The first mention of Kleinkerz was in 1473; by Oberkerz 1534th
