Casa de la Vall

The Casa de la Vall, Andorra la Vella, literally house of the valley, is the seat of the Andorran Parliament, the General Council.

The building was built with defense tower of the Busquets family in 1580 as a mansion in 1702 and the forerunner of the General Council, the Consell de la Terra purchased.

The two-story building made ​​of lapidary stones broken home to two of the corners of old dovecotes in the form of turrets. In the garden in front of the house there is the sculpture The Dance of Francesc Viladomat. In the square on the north side of the building is a monument of Emili Armengol independence of Andorra in 1993 and entry into force of the Constitution.

On the ground floor the administration of justice is the appellate and trial by jury. In the first floor you will find the conference hall of the General Council, the chapel of Sant Ermengol and the cabinet of the seven keys, which as an archive for historical documents Andorra, such as the Manual Digest and the Politar Andorrà, serves and with the keys of representatives of all seven parishes must be locked or opened. Also on the second floor there is an ancient kitchen, as the General Councils had previously left to the decision finding the house.
