Casatenovo

Casatenovo is a municipality in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy with 12,768 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Geography

Casatenovo is located about 20 km southwest of the provincial capital of Lecco and 30 km north-east of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Besana in Brianza ( MB), Camparada (MB ), Correzzana (MB ), Lesmo (MB ), Lomagna ( LC), Missaglia ( LC), Monticello Brianza ( LC) and Usmate Velate (MB )

History

For the first time the community was mentioned 867 BC. The village itself developed in the 10th and early 11th century around the castle of the Casati family.

Economy

In several local food producers are located. Among other things, Galbusera and Vismara.

  • Festa di San Giorgio - Feast of the local patron saint on April 23

Attractions

  • The parish church of San Giorgio, which was built in the 13th century. The look was, however, 1635th
  • The church of Santa Margherita, which was built in 1462 again. In their frescoes are in spät-ghotischen/lombardischen styles.
  • The small church of Santa Giustina, which has been known since 1062. The bell tower is held in the Romanesque style. Most parts of the church were restored in 1643.
  • Villa Casati Facchi.
  • Villa Casati Greppi (1775 ).
  • Villa Lurani - Cernuschi.
  • Cascina Rancate, a large country house of the 14th century and was restored in the 16th century.
