Casey Affleck
Caleb Casey McGuire Affleck - Boldt ( born August 12, 1975 in Falmouth, Massachusetts) is an American actor. In 2008 he was nominated as Best Supporting Actor for the film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford for Oscar, he did not won.
Casey Affleck is the younger brother of Ben Affleck.
Previous years
Affleck was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the second son of Christine Anne and Timothy Byers Affleck. His mother was a teacher and worked for the local school district, his father was a representative for drugs, social worker, janitor, auto mechanic and bartender. He was also an actor at the Theater Company of Boston. Affleck has Irish, Scottish and English ancestors, and is a distant cousin of Matt Damon. He grew up in one of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America belonging to the family. Casey Affleck attended the George Washington University in Washington, DC and then went to New York City at Columbia University, where he studied physics, astronomy, and Western philosophy. But he did not reach a conclusion. During his high school and college years he occasionally worked on productions for television with as an actor.
First appearances (1995 to 2006)
In his first movie role, he starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Nicole Kidman suffering from a personality disorder in adolescents Gus Van Sant film To Die For. In 1997 he was in the movie Race the Sun - In the race to see over time, where he had his first starring role. In the same year he made two films with his brother, Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting. The latter was written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who thus won the Oscar for best screenplay.
In 1998, he co-starred with Kate Hudson in the movie Desert Blue and 2000 was in the crime comedy Drowning Mona beside Danny DeVito, Bette Midler and Neve Campbell to see on the big screen. These films turned out to be commercial failures.
2001 Affleck was part of the ensemble in the film Ocean's Eleven by Steven Soderbergh. Affleck played Virgil Malloy and here the figure was also in the same role in the two sequels Ocean's 12 and Ocean's 13 can be seen.
In 2002 he worked with Matt Damon and Gus Van Sant with the screenplay for the film Gerry.
The breakthrough as an actor (since 2007)
In 2007, he played Robert Ford, the man who killed Jesse James in the Western The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford on the side of Brad Pitt, who portrayed Jesse James. For his performance, he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He was also nominated for an Academy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. For this role he received consistently good reviews of the trade press.
In 2007, he starred in the film Gone Baby Gone - No child's play his first major lead role, directed by his brother Ben. The film received very good reviews, Casey was praised for his acting achievements.
2010 celebrated its first own film, I'm Still Here at the International Film Festival in Venice premiere. Affleck directed and co-wrote with his brother Joaquin Phoenix the script.

Affleck married on 3 June 2006 his childhood friend and fellow actress Summer Phoenix in Savannah, Georgia. The couple has two sons (* 2004 and * 2008).
He volunteers his time for the protection and support campaigns of PETA and Farm Sanctuary. The avowed vegan is fluent in Spanish and lives with his family in Los Angeles and Winter Park, Florida
