Casey Puckett

Paul Casey Puckett ( born September 22, 1972 in Boulder, Colorado ) is a former American professional skiers. He was initially an alpine ski racer and as such successful especially in the slalom and giant slalom. Later he joined the freestyle skiing and also included in the discipline of ski cross world leader.

Biography

Puckett participated during his junior time in FIS races and came in Nor- Am Cup used. At the Junior World Championships in 1991 in Geilo he won the gold medal in the slalom. In the 1991/92 season he won the overall and giant slalom standings of the Nor- Am Cup. His first points in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, he won 17th place in the slalom in Chamonix on 30 January 1994. Four weeks later he drove in the 1994 Winter Olympics in 7th place in the slalom.

In the following winters, Puckett could not say in the World Cup. For four years, he received not a single countable World Cup result. Often he dropped out or could not qualify for the second passages. On the other hand, he succeeded in Nor- Am race continued good results. In the 1997/98 season he won for the second time overall and giant slalom standings of the Nor- Am Cup. It was not until the 1998/99 season he rode in the World Cup regularly in the points. Its by far the best World Cup finish was on 21 January 2001, fourth place in the classic Hahnenkamm combination of Kitzbühel.

In the Nor- Am Cup Puckett decided in the 2000 /01 season with four wins the slalom discipline rating for themselves. In January 2002, he started the last time at a World Cup race, after which he played until 2006 only sporadically Alpine FIS races. This was due to his devotion to the ski cross. So he took in 2004 at the Winter X Games in Aspen instead, where she won the gold medal rather surprising. He repeated this success in 2007.

For the 2007 /08 season Puckett was involved in the Freestyle World Cup. His first World Cup race on January 12, 2008 in Les Contamines, he finished as runner-up. A month later, in Deer Valley, another second place. In the winter of 2008/ 09 he classified himself seven times in the top ten ( with a third place as Bestergebnis ) to give 4th place in the ski cross discipline standings. With another podium finish at the beginning of the season 2009/10 Puckett qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was one of the oldest members of the American team. In 2011 he renounced further launches in the World Cup and only took part in the Winter X Games, where he drove in 3rd place.
