Casimir IV, Duke of Pomerania

Life and achievements

Casimir IV was the eldest son of the Duke of Pomerania - Stolp Bogislaw V. and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of King Casimir the Great of Poland. Kasimir was ( as Roderich Schmidt) born around 1345 ( as Martin Wehrmann ) or, more precisely in 1351. He was educated at the court of his grandfather, King Casimir in Kraków, as well as his sister Elizabeth, who later married the Emperor Charles IV. After 1364 King Casimir adopted his grandson and intended to make him his successor on the Polish throne. He also appointed him the heir significant lands in northern Poland, namely the Dobriner country and the country Lenczyce and Sieradz.

After the death of his grandfather in 1370 not Casimir, but King Louis the Great of Hungary King of Poland was. King Louis was from the legacy of King Casimir only a portion of certain countries out for him, namely the Dobriner country and the castle districts Bromberg, Flatow and German crown, which took Duke Casimir fief.
