Casimir Pfyffer

Casimir Pfyffer of Altishofen ( born October 10, 1794 in Rome, † November 11, 1875 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss lawyer, politician and journalist from the Lucerne patrician family Pfyffer of Altishofen. He was the first mayor of Lucerne from 1832 to 1835 and a major leader of the Lucerne liberals in the 19th century.

In 1826 he was elected to the Grand Council of Lucerne, where he belonged until 1869 and which he was Chairman from 1831 to 1841. Furthermore, he was from 1848 to 1863 Member of the National Council and its President 1854/55. Between 1857 and 1871 he was a member of the Lucerne High Court.
