Casinò Lugano

The Teatro Kursaal was a theater in Lugano, Switzerland, directly on Lake Lugano.

Starting in 1804 existed in Lugano a "game room ", where gambling and dice games were made. Around 1885, a company, Società del Teatro di Lugano, who wanted to link a building for theater, music and balls with a casino and a restaurant to take account of the emergence of tourism founded. The resulting around the turn of the century building Teatro Kursaal e casinos, built by the architect Achille Sfondrini, established himself as a theater and revue stage, while in the other half of the building a casino was housed. In the first Teatro Grand Prix Euro Vision Song Contest took place without hall audience on 24 May 1956.

As a rapidly requiring rehabilitation building the Teatro was demolished in 2001. Today, at this point is the modern casino casinos Lugano.
