Caspar Bartholin the Elder
Caspar Berthelsen Bartholin Caspar Bartholin the Elder or (* 1585 in Malmo, Denmark, now Sweden, † July 13, 1629 in Soro, Zealand ) was a polymath.
Bartholin in 1613, was professor of medicine at the University of Copenhagen. Later, he taught theology at the same university. 1618/19 he served as rector of the university.
His sons were the physician, anatomist, mathematician and theologian Thomas Bartholin (1616-1680) as well as the physician Erasmus Bartholin (1625-1698), anatomist Caspar Bartholin grandson of the Younger ( 1655-1738 ).
